HARNESS SOLAR POWER

Photovoltaic (PV) Technology

Why install Solar Photovoltaic Panels?

Cost Savings

Solar PV systems generate FREE electricity, meaning property owners can reduce their electricity bill significantly. Any excess electricity may be sold back to the grid at a profit, monitored using a smart meter.

Building Regulations

Builders and developers may benefit from implementing Solar PV systems by meeting SAP targets, energy reports, The Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM ratings, Part L and local planning requirements such as the London Plan.

Reduce CO2 Emissions

With rising fossil fuel prices and the continuing challenges with climate change, the demand for solar PV systems increases. This year, renewables have supplied 37% of the electricity in Britain.

independence from the grid

How is money saved with
photovoltaic (PV) installations?

Free source of renewable energy.

Rising electricity rates in combination with lower installation costs, make solar energy a great way to reduce the electric bill.

Export excess electricity back to the grid.

Unused power generated by the solar PV panels may be exported/sold to the grid/electrical supplier.

Energy storage with battery technology.

Batteries capture any unused solar power during the day for later evening use or on low sunlight days, offering further independence from the grid. However in a black-out event, batteries generally do not provide power due to "anti islanding protection", although the latest inverters offer solutions to maintain power for your property.

PV Solar Systems

What is
Photovoltaic Technology?

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems convert sunlight into electrical energy, providing the building with a free source of power.

Through government subsidies and power-purchase agreements, these systems can offer significant cost savings for tenants and lucrative returns on investment for owners, whilst reducing CO2 emissions for everyone.

Solar PV systems consist of several photovoltaic cells connected in larger chains, known as modules – or panels. Panels can be further connected in larger arrays to increase the power output of the system. Due to its modular structure, solar photovoltaic systems can can be scaled to meet almost any electric power need, small or large.

generate renewable energy

How do solar
PV Systems work?

Photovoltaic cells harness solar power by absorbing photon energy at the surface. The incoming photons dislodge electrons from the atoms within the material of the cells, thereby generating an electric current.

The surface of PV panels are specifically designed to be receptive to this effect so that when sunlight strikes, a charge imbalance is created between the front and back of the panel similar to the positive & negative terminals of a battery. When connected to an external load, electricity starts to flow which is then used to power electrical applicances.

optimal solar performance and PV installation longevity

Solar PV System Maintenance

With no moving parts, Solar PV systems generally require very low maintenance and offer an impressive operational lifetime. That being said, proper care and precautions are still necessary to ensure the longevity and seasonal efficiency of your system.

A specialist can identify potential problems before they happen, saving you money on repair and solar PV reactive maintenance costs. With regular servicing, you can rectify any damage before the issue worsens or failure happens.

Accumulated dirt, dust, bird droppings, grease or any other particles in the air can be detrimental to your PV panels. They can block sunlight, create hotspots, and decrease the efficiency of the system. Planned solar PV maintenance will keep unwanted dirt from the surface of the panels and ensure high performance year round.

During a solar PV routine maintenance, we’ll carry out a comprehensive assessment of the surface condition of the panels as well as check for any defects within the system. We also conduct an electrical components test to make sure everything is performing as expected.

Our engineer will check for potential issues such as:
